Sunday services
What are your services like?
It can be daunting setting foot in a church, not knowing what is going to happen or what is expected and you may find yourself with many questions. What is the style of worship? Is there a dress code? Will I need to kneel in prayer? Will I be expected to give financially? This is why we have put a brief overview of what to expect during a Sunday service: Entrance and Refreshments As you enter the church via our internal doors there is usually someone to greet anyone attending the service. You will be welcomed and offered refreshments. From 9:30 AM before every service, we have free tea and freshly brewed coffee available. We also have some speciality coffees such as lattes and cappuccinos available to purchase. There are tall tables near the entrance to place any drinks and to talk before we commence the service at 10:00 AM. Our refreshments are re-opened once the service is over, typically between 11:00 - 11:15 AM. Worship After a brief welcome from whoever is leading the service (this is usually the Pastor), we have a time of singing, usually referred to as worship. The worship team will lead us in a number of songs using drums, lead and bass guitars, keyboard and some lead singers. The worship is usually a mixture of modern christian upbeat songs, reflective slower worship, as well as some traditional hymns. Lyrics for each song are displayed on TV screens at the front of the church. We welcome everyone to join in singing with the worship team. Teaching Once worship has ended, some notices are given and Bible based teaching will be delivered. |
Prayer
Prayers are spoken throughout services, such as to open and close, and at the end of worship. There are some times where we ask if people would like to come forward to be prayed for in specific areas or invite those attending to pray if they would like to. There is no expectation to kneel or stand during prayers. At times those in attendance may be invited to stand if they are able and would like to. You are also welcome to ask any of our leadership team to pray for you after the service. Communion Communion is something that Jesus began the night before he died as a way for his followers to remember what he did for us on the cross. We welcome all Christians to take communion with us. When we have a communion service, which is usually announced at the beginning of the service, everyone who wishes to take part is invited come forward to the laid table and eat a piece of bread or cracker and drink a small glass of juice as a symbolic way of remembering the body and blood of Jesus that was shed for our salvation. Giving Wednesfield Christian Centre is an independent church and charity, meaning we receive no funds from a larger network or circuit. We are funded solely by the generous donations of church members and visitors, which helps to ensure the building can be open, heated and lit for services and community outreach work. You are welcome to help support the church financially and give as you feel led, however there is no obligation to give. We have a giving station that accepts card and contactless donations, sign posted with a banner. If you would like to give a cash donation or set up monthly standing orders, please speak to a member of the leadership. |
